Set for Sept. 18, 2003 in Griffin, Ga., the Agroforestry and Wildlife Field Day has something for everyone, whether you're a forest landowner, a wildlife enthusiast or a hunter.

The field day will feature more than 30 demonstration sites and an exhibitor tent. Transportation for participants will be provided by trams which will run throughout the University of Georgia's Westbrook Farm, where the event takes place.

For hunters, the field day will offer information on quality management of deer, wild turkey, dove, water fowl and quail. For wildlife enthusiasts, there will be information on controlling wildlife damage and managing threatened or endangered species.

Forest landowners will benefit from the information on prescribed burning, pine straw production, marketing and selling timber, nuisance hardwood tree control, livestock and invasive vegetation management, best management practices for forest roads, managing pine strands to prevent Southern Pine Beetles and other topics. Those with wetlands on their property will want to attend the sessions on pond construction and renovation, waterfowl management and stream side best management practices.

Pre-registration is $20 before Aug. 29 and $25 afterwards. Registration fees include presentations, a field day program booklet and lunch. Early registrants will receive a field day cap. Registration on the day of the event begins at 8:30 a.m. and demonstration sites open at 9 a.m. Field day demonstrations will be repeated every 30 minutes until the program ends at 4 p.m.
