Passion, a loaded tractor and a little guidance is all it took for 11-year-old Wesley Cleveland to begin following in his father and namesake Wes Cleveland’s footsteps, becoming a reliable workhand on the family farm. Most notably described as ‘the future of agriculture’ by many in Early County, the younger Cleveland is contributing to Georgia’s nation-leading peanut crop production — and he’s doing most of it on his own.

University of Georgia Cooperative Extension and the Georgia Department of Agriculture are partnering to offer the Using Pesticides Wisely training program in a virtual format again this year.

Shattered Ceilings
Speaking at the University of Georgia for the first time since graduating in 2008, U.S. Department of Defense's Ada Bacetty presented the “Shattered Ceilings” seminar to the campus community — an engaging conversation about breaking through barriers in pursuit of diversity and inclusion.
UGA researchers will evaluate the impact that detailed flood risk information has on home prices in high-risk zones, the purchase of flood insurance policies and community-level risk mitigation actions. They will also try to determine how communities use different types of flood risk information and how those sources influence their perceptions of flood risk. CAES News

Federally funded project to aid Georgia couples
A team of University of Georgia faculty in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences aims to provide Georgia couples with healthy relationship skills and financial guidance with the help of a five-year, $6.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Since the Congressional Agricultural Fellowship program’s inception in 1997, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has helped develop new generations of agricultural policymakers by providing them with the opportunity to gain real-world experience at the highest level.
