Dr. Lewis Bartlett has been selected as part of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) Science Policy Fellows Class of 2023, just one of five scientists across the country named to the program.
Bartlett is an assistant professor with a joint appointment between the Department of Entomology and the Odum School of Ecology at UGA. His research primarily focuses on developing tools to assess and improve the health of honey bees in agricultural settings.
The two-year active training program was formed to teach entomologists the skills needed to successfully advocate for the discipline. As a fellow, Bartlett will attend virtual and in-person educational events to learn more about science policy and funding decisions made at the federal level of government and have the opportunity to engage with lawmakers, legislative staff, and federal agency leaders involved in these policy decisions.
