In an effort to increase international collaboration on research and outreach projects, the Office of Global Programs at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has awarded its 2015 international travel grants for college faculty.

Instead of focusing on how to eliminate pests that reduce yield and negatively impact profits, UGA entomologist Jason Schmidt is looking to improve agricultural management systems to preserve helpful insects.
Sawfly damage on roses CAES News

Dozens of calls and samples of roses with a variety of leaf problems are coming into the University of Georgia Extension office in Bartow County. The most common problem diagnosed this year is injury caused by rose sawflies, also known as rose slugs.
There were almost 800,000 acres of peanuts grown in Georgia in 2015. CAES News
Peanut Grower Survey 04/16/15 Clint Thompson
Farmers who complete the survey will help University of Georgia peanut specialists understand what research and Extension work needs to be done and help them map patterns in pest activity across the state. The survey can be accessed online through a link on the Georgia Peanut Commission’s website at www.gapeanuts.com.
Celosia is one of many flowering plants that attracts beneficial pollinating insects. Other flowering plants that attract beneficial insects include aster, butterfly weed, coneflower, cosmos, rudbeckia, sunflower and zinnias. CAES News

An eco-friendly container garden class has been set for Friday, May 15 at the University of Georgia Research and Education Garden, off of Ellis Road in Griffin, Georgia.
