2022 Cleantech Symposium
Peter Zimmerli, Consul General of Switzerland in Atlanta, implored attendees to expand their thinking regarding technology and sustainability at the opening of the recent Cleantech Symposium at the University of Georgia. “Imagine a world where all humankind has access to sufficient food assured by sustainable agriculture. Peanut Innovation Lab
The University of Georgia’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences helps smallholder farmers feed the world through a partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development. The Peanut Innovation Lab — technically, the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Peanut — is a five-year, $14 million program funded through an agreement between USAID and UGA.

2022 Browne Awards
Four graduate students in the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences have been honored with an E. Broadus Browne Award for Outstanding Graduate Research. Given in honor of the former director of the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Stations, the award is presented to outstanding master’s and doctorate students in CAES based on both their research and effective communication.
Hospitality and food industry management students Isabel Burr, Madison Cantrell, Morgan Carr, Liam Dennis, Natalie Ellison, Veronica Freeman, Breanna Raymond, Brianna Roberts, Morgan Schmidt and Ellie Strong will serve as line cooks and food expediters for the scores of banquets, meals and events throughout Masters Week. As millions of viewers tune in to watch the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, 10 University of Georgia student interns will be on site, working in the kitchen. Rising food costs continue to attract negative attention from consumers around the country due to supply chain issues and inflation, but consumer demand for top-quality beef is on pace with a greater supply of higher-quality meat being produced by the beef industry.

Precision Agriculture Workshops
Registration is open through March 18 for the upcoming Utilizing Precision Ag Technology Workshop being presented by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and UGA Cooperative Extension on March 29 and 31.
Last year, UGA's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences generated an economic impact of $686.3 million, divided between teaching ($241.3 million), research ($182.3 million) and outreach ($262.6 million) in the report. CAES News
CAES Economic Impact
A recent university-wide report authored by University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) economist Michael Adjemian has revealed that in 2021, CAES’ economic impact on the state of Georgia was the highest since UGA began publishing the annual report in 2015.
