On May 4, 2021, the Poultry Science Department at the University of Georgia (UGA) hosted the inaugural 2021 Georgia Precision Poultry Farming Conference virtually via Zoom. The day-long event was a UGA Cooperative Extension conference initiated by Lilong Chai, assistant professor and engineering specialist in the Department of Poultry Science, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, along with support from department administration and fellow faculty members and researchers. Chai also served as the moderator for the conference.

The University of Georgia is hosting an inaugural Georgia Precision Poultry Farming Conference virtually on May 4, 2021.
Using hypothesis-driven data mining, a UGA research team led by Xiangyu Deng of UGA’s Center for Food Safety, analyzed over 30,000 genomes of Salmonella Enteritidis obtained from global sources and the international trade of live poultry over five decades. CAES News

The U.S. alone consumes 8 billion chickens per year and approximately 250 eggs per capita. With the help of modern breeding techniques, there has been a drastic increase in meat yield and egg production to help meet this high demand.

Poultry Transfer Agreement
Students interested in careers in the poultry industry will now have access to more poultry science-based resources and a new path to pursue an undergraduate degree through a transfer agreement between the University of Georgia and the University of North Georgia.

CURO Scholars 2020
This fall, the University of Georgia recognized nine undergraduates in its 2020-21 incoming class as CURO Honors Scholars, the university’s top undergraduate research scholarship. Three students in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences were selected for the award.
